License Requirements for Driving a 9-Meter Motorboat in Spain (350 HP Engine)
If you plan to rent and operate a 9-meter motorboat with a 350 HP engine in Spain, you must hold a valid boating license recognized by the Spanish maritime authorities (Capitanía Marítima). Due to the size and power of the vessel, higher qualifications are required than for smaller boats.
Below is a general guide for tourists from different countries:
United Kingdom
Accepted licenses:
ICC (International Certificate of Competence) with power endorsement
RYA Powerboat Level 2 – commonly accepted by charter companies, although ICC is usually required as the primary document
Netherlands
Accepted licenses:
Vaarbewijs II – required for operating high-powered motorboats in coastal waters and suitable for vessels of this size and power
Germany
Accepted licenses:
Sportbootführerschein See (SBF See) – required to operate motorboats with engines over 15 HP in coastal waters
France
Accepted licenses:
Permis Côtier – required for coastal navigation
Permis Hauturier – accepted for extended offshore navigation and larger vessels
Spain
Accepted licenses (for residents):
PER (Patrón de Embarcaciones de Recreo) or a higher qualification
(Licencia de Navegación / “titulín” does NOT allow the operation of a 9-meter boat or engines of 350 HP)
If you are unsure whether your license allows you to operate this vessel, please contact us — we will be happy to check your qualifications and assist you with any questions.
