Best beaches in Ibiza

Ibiza beach time

Which beaches in Ibiza are the best?

Ibiza has many diverse beaches – from quiet and calm to crowded and party ones. In the northern part of Ibiza there are calm beaches, ideal for family holidays. Near the capital of Ibiza and near San Antonio there are beach clubs that organize a great beach party.

Beach lovers Ibiza

Playa den Bossa and Bora Bora

To feel the real vibes of Ibiza, it’s worth going to the most-known Playa den Bossa. Playa d’en Bossa is a long, sandy beach, there are frequent waves here. It is a built-up, tourist zone. We find here many beach clubs where music plays all day and night and party hotels, such as: Hard Rock Hotel or Ushuaia. You can go to crazy BORA BORA, where there is no moderation, or participate at a party at the pool or if you want to chill out you should go to the more exclusive Nassau Beach. However, we won’t find crystal clear water here, unfortunately.

Salinas Beach

A few kilometres away, there’s also a very popular Las Salinas beach, beloved by the rich and famous. There are several exclusive restaurants here, quite expensive but with good food. Salinas also has a short section where we can meet nudists. Being on Playa den Bossa or Salinas we will definitely find out about the most interesting events, because it’s here that the daily promotions of various events take place. Next to Salinas there are several separate tiny bays. If you need more privacy and peace, it’s worth taking a walk further. The water here is clean and definitely more transparent than on the Bossa beach, but it’s not the same as we can see on the west side of the island. It’s easy to get to Salinas, because there are buses from Ibiza and Playa den Bossa.

Salinas beach is a part of Salinas National Park. Here you will find beautiful and colourful lakes and salt flats. It is a unique sight, especially at sunsets. With a bit of luck, you will see flamingos here. Salt lakes are one of the favourite haunts of these fine and elegant birds.

Cala Bassa Beach

Cala Bassa Beach is surrounded by a wooded area. There are clear, turquoise waters and soft, golden sand. It is the most popular among families with children because the water is rather  shallow. It’s a safe bathing spot for kids.

There are a couple of cute little beach bars and famous CBBC. Cala Bass Beach Club is a restaurant with good quality food and nice music.. A bit further, you can jump to transparent water from a few meter bluff – adrenaline rush guaranteed.

Cala Conta

Cala Conta is a wonderful beach, which rather does not need to be introduced, one of the most popular on the west coast of Ibiza. This beach is famous for its transparent and crystalline waters, sandy coves and red rocks. Cala Conta is only a 15-minute drive from San Antonio or San José. It is visited by many people due to the lovely sunsets.

Several restaurants are located on the beach of Cala Conta. Sunset Ashram is one of the most characteristic beach bars on the island. There are also ecological bar ¨el chiringuito¨ It is a perfect example of fun, good atmosphere and respect for both people and the environment.

Cala D’hort beach

One of the spots where we can admire the Es Vedra rocky massif is Cala d’Hort beach. Watching the rock from the sea level makes it seem even bigger than it really is. Cala d’Hort is a small, charming beach that can be reached either by car or scooter from the San José town or from the Cala Vadella beach. The Es Vedra rock rises just a few hundred metres from the shore. The beach is covered with very fine sand on one side and more rocky one on the other one. On the left side, right next to the rocks, you will find a wonderful wooden bridge, perfect for taking beautiful photos with Es Vedrà in the background. On the beach, there are restaurants, bars, and you can also rent kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and water bikes there. Check the location

HIPPIE VIBES ON THE BEACH, BENIRRAS

Located in the northern part of the island, Cala Benirrás is home to lovers of the hippie environment. The sound of the drums is the highlight in the sunsets on Benirrás beach. Every summer since the 1970s, hippies flock to the beach to play drums. Along with the Las Dalias market, it is the best-known hippie tradition on the island.

WHEN IS BEST TO GO TO CALA BENIRRÁS ?

If your desire is to watch the sunset and feel the hippie vibes, then you should go to Benirras beach on Sunday. It is exactly on Sunday when this same place is filled to overflowing with thousands of people dancing, enjoying themselves and bathing in the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Please note that access by car on Sundays is restricted for this reason, so be sure to leave relatively early to find a parking space. It can also be reached by bus from San Antonio.

Cala Xarraca

This time we move to the north of the island. It is not as tourist part of the island as its southern part, but is equally beautiful. Cala Xarraca is an attractive cove at the foot of a small red rock cliff. From the shore, you can admire small islets lying in front of the beach. On the right shore there are several houses, among which a cottage with a stone tower stands out.

The attraction of this place is a swing hanging over the water. Someone once hung a few ropes on the rock, which float above the surface of water, and now the swing is the destination of many visits. It is a popular place to take pictures. It has become fashionable, especially on Instagram, to post pictures from this place indeed. Besides, the rock on which the ropes are hanging, is perfectly suited to cliff jumping or jumping from rocks.

Beaches near Ibiza town

If you live in the small town of Ibiza and do not want to go far to the beaches, you can choose either Figuretas or Talamanca beach – these are city beaches near hotels, so they are not very beautiful, the water is not completely transparent. However, shops and restaurants are on site, and the sun shines the same everywhere.
