Espalmador Island is a perfect place for people who like nature. The island is located in the heart of the Ses Salines Natural Park, between Ibiza and Formentera. Espalmador covers an area of 137 hectares. It is 3 kilometres long and 800 meters wide.

The island can be observed from Illetes Beach. Although it seems possible to reach it, it is rather impossible due to the strong currents in this area.

We will not find beach bars, sunbeds, or any larger buildings here. There are only two houses, a lighthouse and a chapel on the island. This island is an exceptional biological treasure. Among the fauna, seabirds such as the black-haired plover, stork, or white nightingale stand out.

To the north is a half-virgin peninsula. It consists of Levante beach to the east and Cavall and Illetes beaches to the west. The latter beach is best known in the area for its calm waters and white sand. If Illetes charms us, Espalmador will leave us speechless.

It is very easy to find a natural mud lake in the middle of this quiet island. You must head north on the narrow weed path, away from the beach. Finally, we reach a hollow filled with natural mud. This natural space is an absolute paradise for birds. Mud lakes are protected by strict environmental protection regulations. It is a dream come true for naturalists and ornithologists. Although mud baths are strictly forbidden there, tourists enjoy these natural benefits.
