Formentera – Ses Illetes Beach

the most beautiful beach

Formentera’s beaches are simply beautiful! For those who are fans of spending a holiday on the beach, this island is one of the best places in the world to relax and forget about everything. The radiant white sand and the warm, crystal clear water of the Mediterranean Sea will make you feel as if you were in paradise. It is said that Formentera’s beaches rival the Caribbean beaches, and they are often compared with them. Without any doubt, being in Formentera can make you feel that you are on one of the most spectacular beaches in the world. In addition, you can choose between long, wide, tourist beaches and small, quiet coves away from the hustle and bustle of holiday madness.

The most popular beaches in Formentera are easily accessible. The infrastructure is very well-developed and convenient for tourists. There will be plenty of restaurants, bars, sun loungers, and umbrellas for rent. A great amount of the beaches are perfect places to dive and some also offer different water sports.

Life is better on the beach

ILLETES BEACH – HOW TO GET THERE?

Once you reach Illetes Beach, it’s easy to understand why this beach was ranked number one among the most beautiful beaches in Europe. It also achieved a sixth place among the top ten beaches in the world. You will feel as if you left the Mediterranean Sea for a while and moved to the Caribbean idyll.

Illetes Beach is located on a long, narrow peninsula. It is called the paradise of Formentera thanks to the combination of fine white sand, beautiful blue sky and the most crystal clear water. The beach is located just 5 km away from the port of La Savina. It is easily accessible by bike, bus, taxi, motorbike or car. When renting a car or scooter, remember about the parking fee when renting a car or scooter. The beach is located in the National Park.

CHARMING ISLANDS ALONG THE BEACH AND NUDIST BEACH

The word Illetas means “islets” as there are many tiny islets along the beach where you can swim ashore or even walk to. The further you go, the fewer tourists you will find on the beach, especially when you reach the nudist area. The nudist beach is very natural and there are no sunbeds.

From the end of this small peninsula, the neighbouring island Espalmador can be easily seen. Although it seems very close and easy to reach, the water level rises during the day. You may have a problem coming back. We advise you not to cross on your own because the sea currents might be quite strong. If you want to visit the unspoiled island of Espalmador, we recommend taking one of the organized excursions.

RESTAURANTS ON ILLETAS BEACH

There are many famous restaurants on Illetas Beach that offer delicious food, especially the fish dishes. The most famous are: Juan and Andrea, Beso Beach and El Pirata. The restaurants offer delicious dishes of fresh fish and seafood, and due to the fact that they are located on the most beautiful beach in Europe, they are unfortunately pretty expensive. If you want to go there, it’s worth remembering to reserve a table well in advance.

There are no kiosks, beach bars on Illetas Beach that sell reasonably priced food or drinks. There are also no grocery stores. It is much better to stock up on food in advance in one of the supermarkets in the port.

LUXURY YACHTS, FAMOUS AND RICH THAT IS HIGH LIFE ON A FORMENTERA

The rich and famous moor their yachts at the shores of the beach. Every year, actors, athletes and singers come here with their ships. Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and many other players are frequent guests. In 2017, Formentera was also visited by Anna and Robert Lewandowscy. Restaurants offer a water taxi service, sail to the yachts and drive wealthy customers to the beach shore by motorboats.

When you are in Ibiza, it is worth going to Formentera and visiting one of its heavenly beaches. You can go to Formentera on your own, buying a ferry ticket, but it’s best to buy one of the package tours.
