Practical advice
Ibiza—it’s heaven on earth. If you spend at least one summer here, you will fully fall in love with this spot, and you won’t be able to imagine your next holiday without at least a few days spent on this crazy island. It’s full of beautiful views and some really nice people live here.
Private yachts are said to be for wealthy people. That’s true—boat prices range from €700 to €6000 for one day! However, if you share the renting expense with your friends and see the benefits, it turns out the cost per person is not that bad, and even a small yacht can give us a lot of joy and will allow us to relax on the crystal clear sea.

WITH OR WITHOUT A CAPTAIN?
If you want to charter a boat without a helmsman, the first thing to check is having the necessary sailing qualifications to operate the type of boat you wish to rent. Most boats up to 12 meters long can be sailed with a PER licence.
However, you should keep in mind that in addition to the licence, you must have experience in sailing and navigation. Some companies will ask you to prove you have this experience. In case of doubt, we always advise you to take a professional skipper on board. This way, you can forget about the responsibility of operating a boat and can focus on enjoying the sail and having fun.
WHAT IS THE COST OF HIRING A CAPTAIN FOR ONE DAY?
The cost of hiring a steersman for one day is approximately €150. Some companies rent boats for half a day, then the cost of hiring a skipper is €80. If you rent a boat with a captain, he will surely be your best guide around Ibiza and Formentera islands. The captain knows the surrounding beaches, coves, caves accessible from the sea, as well as spots for cliff jumping. Thanks to the captain, you will get to know the most magical places on the coast of Ibiza and Formentera
CAN I STEER THE BOAT WITHOUT ANY Licence?
Yes, it’s possible in Spain. The boats that are less than 5 meters long can be steered without any qualifications. These boats are not very fast because their maximum engine capability is 15hp. It has been one of the most booked items on our site since the pandemic. Discover our offer of boats without a license
SHOULD I BOOK A BOAT IN ADVANCE?
Boat rental on Ibiza and Formentera is a very popular service. To ensure the availability of the best boats, it’s recommended to book as far in advance as possible. Especially if you want to rent a boat for a specific date. It’s pretty popular to rent a boat for birthday, stag and hen parties. For such events, we suggest making reservations well in advance.
FUEL PRICE
The price of fuel depends on two factors, the number of nautical miles travelled and the engine size. The greater the engine power, the greater the fuel consumption. When you rent a boat, the fuel tank will be full. Upon returning to the port, you have to refuel and pay for the amount of used fuel at a marine gas station. If you rent a boat with a steersman, he will take care of refuelling.
EATING AND DRINKING ON BOARD
You can totally take your own food and drinks with you. Most boats have refrigerators on board, and all boats have coolers. When renting boats without a licence, it’s also worth taking ice cubes. Some of our charters offer an open bar and even snacks.
ALL-INCLUSIVE BOAT RENTAL
In our offer, apart from the traditional charter boat rental, we also have an offer with everything included in the price. What’s the rental price? To improve billing, some of our partners offer boat rentals with a captain and fuel included in the rental price. In addition, we also offer a motorboat rental with an open bar, as well as a sailboat rental with drinks and tapas.
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN WE TAKE ON BOARD A RENTED BOAT ON IBIZA?
Most Ibiza charter boats can accommodate up to 12 people. Not all boats have a capacity of 12 people, it depends on the licence granted. For larger groups, we recommend renting two boats or taking advantage of the boat rental offer suited for events, with a capacity of 38 people on board.
WHERE TO SAIL?
The most popular destination is, of course, the neighbouring island of Formentera. The quickest way to get there is from the port of Ibiza, the island’s capital. However, many people choose cruises from the port of San Antonio because they can also visit the West Coast and the rock masses of Ee Vedra, and on the way back a sunset can be admired. The second popular destination is the West Coast beaches, in particular Cala Bassa, Cala Conta, and Cala Tarida.
