You can rent a car, scooter, or bike from one of the many rental points located in the port. Additionally, taxis and public transport are available on Formentera, as well as tourist buses. In this article, we would like to focus on buses in Formentera.

Getting around Formentera by bus

To get to Formentera, you can only do so by sea. There is no airport on the island. That’s why everything revolves around the La Savina port. This is where all the buses depart from, to the nearby beaches, to the rocky cliff with La Mola lighthouse, and to the tourist town of Es Pujols.

Getting from the port to the beaches in Formentera

From the port in Formentera, you can reach almost all the beaches. Below, we have prepared a detailed description for you on how to get to the beaches in Formentera.

How to get from Formentera port to Ses Illetes beach by bus?

 

Ses Illetes Beach is the most visited beach in Formentera and considered the most beautiful beach on the island. It is located within the National Park, near the port. You can reach this beach by tourist bus number L3 (yellow route). The ticket price is 10 euros round trip. Children under 12 years old pay 5 euros round trip. The bus ride from La Savina port to Ses Illetes beach takes 15 minutes.

How to get from Formentera port to Es Pujol beach by bus?

 

Es Pujols is not only a beautiful beach with turquoise water, but also a tourist town with numerous restaurants, bars, and shops where, in addition to sunbathing, you can also enjoy some good food at more affordable prices than at Ses Illetes beaches. You can get here by bus, bus number L1, which departs from the port. The bus ride takes about 15 minutes. The one-way ticket price is 2.25 euros (May 2024 price).

How to get from Formentera port to Es Calo beach by bus?

 

Es Calo Beach is located in the southern part of Formentera. You can get here by bus number L2. The ticket price is 3.20 (May 2024 price). You can combine this with a visit to the lighthouse La Mola on the cliff, which is located near this beach. It takes 35 minutes to get from La Savina port to Es Calo Beach.

How to get from Formentera port to Migjorn beach by bus?

 

Migjorn beach is a 7-kilometer sandy beach, the longest beach on the island of Formentera. You can also reach this beach by bus number L2. The ticket price is 3.20 (May 2024 price). To get here, you should get off at the Hotel Maryland bus stop. You can get here. The travel time from the port is 40 minutes.

Formentera tourist buses L3 – two beaches Ses Illetes and Es Pujol

For 15 euros, you can buy a ticket for tourist bus number L3 (blue route) and visit Ses Illetes beach and also Es Pujols beach, and then return to the port. The bus runs in a loop and operates on a hop-on, hop-off basis. Children under 12 years old pay 7.50 for the ride.

Bus routes from Formentera port to La Mola lighthouse

You can reach La Mola lighthouse, located on a cliff with stunning viewpoints, from the port by taking bus line L2. The bus ride takes about 50 minutes. Along the way, it stops at various places including the island’s capital, San Francisco, Es Calo Beach, and Migjorn Beach. You can get off at any of these stops, enjoy some time at the beach, and then catch another bus to La Mola viewpoint. The one-way ticket price from the port to La Mola lighthouse is 3.20 euros (May 2024 price).
